TDX have been successful with a tender to supply and install a 700kVA Kohler generator (KV700C2) into the new Vodafone Building located on Tuam Street in Christchurch.
This project has been challenging in respect to noise attenuation, as the requirements from CCC/ECAN are very stringent but with the help of Auckland based company NCS Acoustics we have managed to meet the set levels.
The generator we will be installing is powered by a 16 litre Volvo engine and incorporates the latest synchronising controller from Kohler so the generator will be able to come on and off line without interrupting supply to the building.
It will be used as emergency standby but can also be used for “Peak Lopping”. This is when the spot power price from the suppliers reaches a price that makes it economical to power the building by using the generator. The generator can also be started and stopped by the power company if they have excess demand and need to supplement their supply.
