TDX launches a new range of Volvo excavators.

TDX, in collaboration with Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE), has introduced the latest range of excavators to the New Zealand market, showcasing even greater levels of Volvo productivity, fuel efficiency, and total cost of ownership.

The latest Volvo EC500, EC400, and EC230 excavators were unveiled in June by Volvo CE at Volvo Days 2024, while TDX had the EC500 excavator on display for it’s New Zealand debut at the National Quarry Conference which was held last week (17-19 July) in Rotorua.

The new range of Volvo excavators includes a revamped operator environment with an improved human-machine interface (HMI) and an even more spacious cabin with amenities like a coolbox to store items and USB and Bluetooth connectivity, ensuring operators can work comfortably and communicate effectively on-site. Operator comfort can be further enhanced with optional extras which include such options as; Wireless phone charging, an A/C ventilated deluxe seat package, an additional large bottle holder and in-cab work boot storage.

Kurt Deleu, Head of Product Management Excavators at Volvo CE, highlighted the new Volvo product range: "Our new excavators integrate advanced electro-hydraulic systems and automation technologies, enabling precise control while reducing operator fatigue. These features not only improve fuel efficiency but also contribute to lower total cost of ownership."

Safety remains paramount with Volvo Smart View and obstacle detection systems, providing operators with a 360° view and alerts for nearby objects or individuals, enhancing job site safety.”

The ability to pre-set limits on the boom's depth, height, and swing allows operators to perform their tasks with the highest safety standards. This feature helps them avoid overhead or underground hazards, such as power lines, pipes, cables, walls, barriers, and, most importantly, any people on the worksite.

“In addition, these new Volvo excavators redefine serviceability with extended maintenance intervals and improved accessibility for routine checks," noted Deleu. "They represent Volvo CE's commitment to delivering superior performance and reliability."

Colm Hamrogue, CEO of TDX, was equally excited about the new Volvo excavator range: "We are delighted to bring the latest offering of Volvo excavators to market for our New Zealand customers. This new range represents a significant leap forward in construction equipment technology, which has been designed to optimise performance and enhance operational efficiency."

These excavators take Volvo operator comfort to a new level and we believe set new benchmarks in terms of productivity, sustainability and safety. They are tailored to meet the demanding challenges of New Zealand worksites and we can’t wait to show them off to our local customers."

The new Volvo EC500, EC400 and EC230 are available for purchase now while the rest of the new Volvo range will be introduced in the near future.
