TDX launch Volvo Electric zero-emission compact machinery

13 Jun 2024

Volvo electric zero-emission construction machines are now available in New Zealand, offering powerful electric performance with minimal environmental impact.

In response to the increasing demand for sustainable solutions and the need to reduce carbon emissions by many local companies, TDX has introduced its first range of Volvo electric zero-emission construction machinery to the New Zealand market.

TDX has been the proud New Zealand distributor of Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) products for the past 13 years. The release of these zero-emission machines is another demonstration of TDX offering the latest in Volvo sustainably, technology and innovation. In 2022, TDX released the first hybrid Volvo CE models, while in 2023 TDX achieved Toitu carbonreduce certification, a demonstration that TDX is committed to reducing carbon emissions across it’s business operations.

The zero-emission machines offer equivalent performance to their diesel counterparts while boasting additional benefits such as zero emissions, near silence, reduced vibrations, and enhanced operator comfort. These electric machines not only improve the overall working experience but also create new business opportunities while helping to reduce emissions for businesses.

TDX is introducing a range of compact electric machines, including the ECR18 and ECR25 Electric compact excavators, and the L25 Electric wheel loaders, with more models slated for release in 2025.

"We are excited to introduce the Volvo Electric Compact Range of Construction Equipment to the New Zealand market. Volvo CE's commitment to innovation and sustainability reflects its proactive approach to meeting our customer's needs. Our collaboration underscores a mutual commitment to leading the transition towards a more sustainable future." says Colm Hamrogue, CEO of TDX.

Our TDX service and sales teams have been trained in this new electric technology. We are confident that these zero-emission machines will handle the New Zealand conditions well, having had pilot machines being tested across local conditions. We can’t wait to get New Zealanders into the operator’s seat to experience the latest Volvo technology for themselves.”

All Volvo CE's zero-emission machines in New Zealand come with charging solutions, ensuring seamless operations with quick and efficient charging capabilities. These machines are fast-charge ready, with off-board solutions enabling a complete charge in approximately one hour, allowing customers to plan their operations effectively.

The availability of charging solutions also facilitates operation in noise-sensitive areas and beyond standard working hours. Moreover, the use of electric machines eliminates the need for costly fume extraction systems, making them ideal for low-carbon projects and indoor operations.

The first batch of machines are available for purchase now while customers can see the first Volvo Electric ECR25 Excavator and Volvo Electric L25 Wheel Loader on show at the TDX site, National Fieldays 2024, Mystery Creek.
