The role:
Reporting to the General Manager of People and Safety you will be responsible for providing hands-on operational safety support to managers and their teams.  This is a boots on the ground role, requiring collaboration with others and an action-orientated approach.

We are looking for someone skilled at collaborating with others to ensure our workplace is as safe as it can be. 

Responsibilities include:

  • This is a hands-on position, with approximately a 50/50 split between being office based and out in the branches.
  • Working alongside our managers and employees, this role will complete risk assurance audits, assist with incident investigations, injury management processes, our critical risk program work, and provide support at toolbox talks and committee meetings.
  • Leading change and helping our people incorporate safe practices into their everyday work.
  • Sharing learnings through safety alerts and incident outcomes as well as training new managers and employees on our processes and systems will keep you busy with a varied workload.
  • A significant part of the position is to work alongside others, lifting the safety culture and safety performance on the ground.
  • Travel will be required.

We are ideally looking for:

  • A proactive, positive approach with a willingness to get things done is what’s important here.
  • You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as being a highly productive worker and skilled administrator.
  • Working knowledge of the Health & Safety Act, relevant codes, and regulations.
  • Experienced with MS Office Suite.
  • Able to work without direct supervision.
  • Can use initiative, follow instructions accurately, and seek assistance as required.
  • Can work efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Flexible and willing to carry out varied tasks.
